Today’s TV jibber-jabber touches on stats about what new and returning TV shows viewers are excited about. Good news for Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis and “Vegas” — not-so-hot for the new ABC aliens-in-suburbia sitcom,”Neighbors.”
A new survey by Yahoo! TV and Entertainment Weekly has some interesting tidbits. The survey, which asked about 2,000 men and women about upcoming fall programming, first of all found an age divide that points to changing viewing habits. Notably, as the press release says, “Older viewers are twice as interested in the upcoming fall TV programs, while the younger demographic is looking for funny or niche content.” This supports the theory that, for younger people, watching television is losing ground to finding content on YouTube and in other online areas. (For more enlightening information on YouTube’s drive to increase its original content, read John Seabrook’s piece in The New Yorker, from earlier this year.)
